The education system in Saudi Arabia is considered an advanced and modern education system compared to Arab countries, and it is available in two forms: government education and private education. Some non-governmental statistics estimate the percentage of people capable of reading and writing in Saudi Arabia at 89.1% for males and 79.4% for females. On the other hand, the illiteracy rate is less than 5.6%.

The education system in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia includes about 29 public universities , 14 private universities and many private colleges and institutes, in addition to more than 33,500 schools administered in most governorates of Saudi Arabia.The educational systems in force in Saudi Arabia allow children from three to five years to enroll in kindergarten as an optional stage for the family. Children begin to enroll in the first grade of primary school at the age of five and six months for those who have previously enrolled in kindergarten, and if they have not enrolled in it, they can join. At the age of six, primary education lasts six years, followed by three years of intermediate education, then three years of secondary education with its two systems of courses and tracks.

Students of secondary school age can continue their studies in technical and vocational institutes. After secondary school, students can continue their studies in public or private universities, and vocational education institutes and colleges. As for those who have not completed secondary education, they can enroll in evening schools or industrial secondary institutes. The Saudi government provides free education at its four levels: primary, intermediate, secondary, and university education. The student is provided with textbooks, transportation, and a stipend for university students and those enrolled in vocational institutes.

Government education in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia also provides regular schools for adult education as part of the literacy project that was launched in 1374 AH. [2]

It is also committed to the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization ( UNESCO ) through the fourth goal of sustainable development in education, and has A permanent delegation to UNESCO affiliated with the Ministry of Education and representing an essential link with the organization, of which the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is a founding member, and a member of its 

Industries and research

Industry in Saudi Arabia is one of the vital sectors on which the economy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is based . It includes industries related to petroleum production and refining, petrochemicals , metals , and military industries, in addition to cement , construction, equipment, food industries, and others. In 2030, Saudi Arabia aims to reach 33% of the industrial sector’s contribution to the gross domestic product 

Scientific research constitutes one of the most prominent elements relied upon by the “Kingdom’s Vision 2030,” which aims to move the national economy away from dependence on oil and shift to a knowledge-based economy. It has become universally recognized that scientific research is a worthwhile and long-term investment, the cornerstone of building any innovation-based economy, and a basis for generating new knowledge, sustaining economic growth, strengthening global competition, and creating entirely new industries. Despite the recent era of scientific research in the Kingdom compared to some countries of the world; it has made great strides over the past few years, placing it in the first ranks regionally and in the first ranks globally.
